JPM Senior Partner Dr Jelena Gazivoda, LL.M (Cantab), with Partner Nikola Đorđević and Senior Associate Marko Mrđa, have prepared separate sets of information regarding the new laws. Today, we share the second set of information regarding the Law on Energy Efficiency.
The goals of this law and rational use of energy, energy savings, reduction of the energy sector’s environmental impact, and contribution to the sustainable use of natural and other resources. This law harmonizes Serbia with the new EU directives in this area, which includes, among other things, the introduction of eco-design regulations concerning the labeling of household appliances that may be on the market, as well as regulations for high-efficient cogeneration.
In order to encourage efficient use of energy and implementation of energy efficiency measures, it envisions the establishment of an energy efficiency authority within the Ministry of Mining and Energy, which will make it easier for citizens to obtain subsidies to replace windows, doors, insulation of facades and heating systems.
